National Rally 2019 to Noosa, Queensland: Sunday, 28 April to Saturday, 4 May with a five-day add-on tour to Mt Tamborine and Byron Bay commencing on Sunday, 5 May
We are progressing with plans for the 2019 National Rally from Sunday, 28 April to the farewell dinner on Saturday, 4 May with a five-day add-on tour for those wishing to join the extension into the south of Queensland and then New South Wales, taking in the beautiful hinterland from Tamborine down to Byron Bay.
We have a wonderful week planned and the organisers are looking forward to showcasing beautiful Noosa and surrounds. The plan is for a fun and relaxing week, including two and a half, not so long, drive days. A whole resort is booked with undercover parking under each unit. The resort comprises three swimming pools, a bar and restaurant, a tennis court and a lovely gathering area for our nibbles.
Fraser Island, the world’s largest sand island, is an absolute must! We will be driving on pristine beaches for miles (not in our Bristols), crossing from the mainland on a barge onto the island to take in sights such as the amazing Lake McKenzie, where the girls can wash their diamonds in mica sand and dive into the deepest blue clear water. We will cross Eli Creek, visit Happy Valley and Central Station, any maybe spot dingoes, all in the comfort of purpose-built 4-wheel drive buses. What a fun day it will be!
Two dinners are planned: one at the boathouse, a beautiful floating restaurant, built on a barge that was used at the Sydney Olympics. We will have drinks on the upper deck at 5.00pm then dinner and a dance below overlooking the Noosa River.
We have special permits in place for our Bristols to be parked in the Woods at the end of Hastings Street on one day. This can be a mini Bristol Show. Enjoy a casual Hastings Street stroll and lunch at leisure and visit the beach and National Park, hopefully spotting a koala.
Our drive days will not be too far or too onerous, a maximum of five hours including stops. We will incorporate a visit to the Bristol Beaufighter to see how much closer to completion this mammoth task is since our visit ten years ago.
