A convoy leader from Victoria is still being sought.

“The Walls of China – Ancient lakeside dune holding a 50,000-year record of Aboriginal life. Once there was a lake here, brimming with fresh water and edged with dunes. Families lived and fished along its sandy shores and hunted the giant marsupials that grazed adjacent fertile grasslands. When the lakes dried 20,000 years ago, the people stayed on, camping near soaks. The Walls of China are the weathered remains of a 30-kilometre-long crescent of dunes that once fringed the lake’s north-eastern shore. Within its eroded ramparts are the ashes of ancient camp fires, cooking hearths and the bones and shells from long-ago meals. At day’s end, the pinnacles of the walls, glowing red in the setting sun, are a spectacular sight.”
