Victorian Branch members held an invitational picnic on Sunday 13th April in the grounds of Werribee Park Mansion on the western fringe of Melbourne.
It is pleasing to see that there were 6 Bristols present. Special mention must go to Matt and Lyn Egan who co-opted family members (3 generations all told) who happily assisted with the driving of their Bristol 401 and Bristol 403.
Guy Bourke joined us for the first time in his silver 401 soon being joined by Robert Sands Silver Bristol 403 parked side by side. Peter & Deb Howe in their 404 as well as Michele Wilson in her 405 completed the Bristol contingent.
In moderns were Iain & Maureen Ross (their 400 is under repair at the moment) Mark and Halinka Macallister (whose 403 will soon be on the road) and Colin Young.
The invitation to join us was extended to other car clubs representing British car manufacturers of the 20th century. Other clubs were represented with a Daimler V8, a Daimler Double 6 and a Daimler SP250, one Jenson Interceptor, two Jensen Healeys, a Humber and a highly modified unregistered Austin arriving by trailer. A number of Daimler members also attended in their moderns.
It was a relaxing day’s outing under the shady trees despite an otherwise hot and windy day. The trying conditions didn’t deter members from raising their bonnets and ponder on the intricacies of all things Bristol. The opportunity to renew acquaintances and inspect other types of vehicles was embraced by all those present with plans for future combined events being discussed.
