The stunning dark blue 405’s and 404 on display were subject to close scrutiny with the various discussions or revelations adding to the collective knowledge of those members present. 

The opportunity of having a car exposed on a hoist encouraged queries and experiences to be shared, including but not limited to issues or maintenance to the running gear, sump, exhaust and brakes. The perennial question of why British cars can leak oil at every corner was witnessed but not answered. 

The autumn sun enabled lunch to be held al fresco in the courtyard where the conversation was most convivial. After lunch there was a technical presentation about modifications of an original Vokes oil filter housing to accommodate current Ryko filters when the original appearance of the engine bay is desired to be maintained.

All the pseudo mechanics present appreciated the opportunity to just ‘hang out’ and talk about all things Bristol
